Re: “West Ashley Library

Yes, the workers at this library are awesome. During my brief trip, the librarian working the counter insisted that the book I had reserved was not available, contrary to the information I had obtained online. After a minute of back and forth with her I went to the back and pulled it off the shelf. Maybe the librarians should use the system available to the public.

Re: “Science Suggests Liberals Are More Creative — Like Science Was Necessary!

This is an unnecessary study. Liberals don't need these results to validate an intellectual superiority, and conservatives can't understand the big words used in the report. So what has this research accomplished?

Re: “Chimay makes a month-long push

Hey Ballard, what's the deal with the Keep the Chalice nights. None of the places hosting these events have any info about it on their web pages. Is there a cover? When does it start? Is this just a tasting session? I'd like to attend, but these places don't seem interested in advertising the event.

Re: “Fox News pollutes our democracy with lies

It's hard to argue with these FoxNews watchers because there is no amount of evidence you can present to convince them that they are wrong. My little brother, just last week was trying to argue that recycling is some sort of government scam (not sure whether this came from OReilly, Beck, or Palin but I'm sure it was one of them), and that it costs more to recycle than obtain new materials from mining, etc. He spent about an hour on-line looking, but could never produce data to support this, only evidence to the contrary. Even when my father, who used to work as an accountant for an aluminium company and worked with these specific costs, intervened and told him he was wrong he still refused to believe. It's a shame this type of attitude seems to dominate so much of our country, as it accomplishes little other than to accelerate our decline in the global community.

Re: “I was a brainiac posing as a bong hitter

I believe I was both a geek and a bong hitter. I sat around much of my younger years listening to The Grateful Dead (who I still love), but I never bought into the belief that stoners can't be smart. So, while many of my stoner friends from college ended up flunking out, playing into the stereotype, I went on to get a PhD.
