Johns Island Water Festival

When: Sat., July 26, 1-7 p.m. 2014
Price: $10
“Water, water, everywhere,/ Nor any drop to drink,” bemoans the titular storyteller in Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s poem “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner.” If we were to say that, it’d be a bit dramatic considering we’ve got drinking water a’plenty. But we’re also lucky enough to live where water abounds. And though the beach may be the most obvious place for some H20 fun, Johns Island has something else to offer us. A Snappy Event and Trophy Lakes have teamed up to bring Charleston the first Johns Island Water Festival, complete with water sports, land activities, food, and live entertainment. “It’s an event focused on water sports for all ages. If you’ve ever wanted to try something new like wakeboarding or waterskiing, this is the place to do it,” says Paul Farrell, event coordinator and owner of A Snappy Event. Festival-goers will also get to enjoy kayaking, paddle boarding, and tubing along with disc golf and a climbing wall. The ticketholders will get access to all activities and live entertainment. Water Fest will have drinks for sale from Sam Adams and Monster, in addition to food from Bakery on Wheels, Baja Burritos, and Bikini Bowls. Ben Fagan and the Holy City Hooligans, DJ Louis Sky, The Shutterdogs, Regina Ferguson, and DJ Luigi will be performing throughout the day. And don’t forget man’s best friend. Pet Helpers will set up a dog park.
