Re: “Why They Fear the Tea Party

I don't mind the constant naming calling the Tea Party endures. It won't make a difference. Most of the folks that associate themselves with the movement are beyond the reach of the media (be it CNN or Fox News). They are a new breed of the classical liberalism. They lean not on a compromised, activist journalism which only serves party lines. The Tea Party is a growing wild card; decentralized and energized. It owes nothing to Fox News, although some in such quarters seek to "get out in front of a popular thing". It, like any sampling of the population, do contain a few bad apples which those on the left love to point out and dishonestly maintain as a defining trait. This movement did not begin with a couple crazy people shouting racist remarks in reaction to a black president. It began with Ron Paul in 2007 when Bush was still in office and Obama was a long shot. The Tea Party began as a reaction against the Neo-Con's government expansion and has continued as Obama has double-backed on campaign promises and increased all the evils of the Bush era. It roots are in philosophy and history, not racism and hate. To say otherwise is selective observation and unbecoming of a critical mind. Keep up the good work, Mr. Hunter.
