Jeremiah Farm specializes in pure, fresh, Grade A raw goat’s milk, but they also plant native species, raise egg-producing hens, and look after bunnies. Their 12-acre parcel out on the west side of Johns Island is not too far from town, but if you really fancy yourself a cheesemaker, they also offer in-home visits where you can gather a group of friends and let them walk you through the process of making fresh fromage in the comfy confines of your own kitchen. And if you’re a city slicker wanting to let your kids get a taste of the country life? Well, they’ll teach your whole clan how to milk goats, make cheese, gather eggs, and even cook up all of that bucolic goodness with fresh veggies from their garden. Goat lovers through and through, the farmers are now looking to form a goat keeper collective, in which classes and information on everything from trimming hooves to dealing with parasites can be organized and shared across the Lowcountry.
