Re: “Clemson wind turbine facility will bring jobs to Chucktown

Rex1234 - I'm sorry, but you're wrong about SC relying mainly on hyrdo-electric. Lest you forget, SC burns coal, buys coal-fired electricity from others states, and buys some power from the nuclear reactors right across the border. You're also wrong about oil being available everywhere - we've seen many, many indications that this is not the case, mainly from business decisions being made in Europe, especially Russia. The oil in Alaska, at current rates of consumption (seems you forgot about that part) wouldn't keep the US going for more than a few months. Off-shore oil drilling is also extremely polluting and hazardous to the local marine environment. Take a trip to the Gulf Coast and ask some residents about it.

No, we don't burn oil for electricity, but it is still an integral part of our economy. I think it's perfectly appropriate for journalists to raise general concern over our oil dependence in a conversation about alternative energy. After all, we could be shifting to electric cars run by wind or solar power.
