Re: “Why are white men turning on women?

Men are upset b/c the push for equality seems only to demand concessions from men while preserving privileges for women. For instance, men are severely disadvantaged in divorce and custody proceedings across the nation, and on college campuses an allegation of rape can result in the expulsion of a male student w/o any semblance of due process. Further, there is a push to shame and perhaps even criminalize male sexuality, at the expense of the First Amendment, no less (see: Holla Back vid).

There is also is an alarming amount of cognitive dissonance on a basic point: men and women ARE different. Many professions will NEVER have an employment base that reflects the average population of men and women, nor should they. Equality is not a desirable outcome for its own sake. As Jerry Seinfeld said regarding criticism that his online show seemed to disproportionately feature white comedians: so what? The only standard he uses is whether someone is funny, that's it. It's silly to insist the guests on his show accurately reflect the racial make-up of the country.

There are observable differences that account for the difference in pay b/w men and women, and despite this the pay differential has been gradually shrinking for several decades. Adjusting for these factors, the difference in pay is approximately 5% (in 2009, mind you). Source: http://www.consad.com/content/reports/Gender%20Wage%20Gap%20Final%20Report.pdf
