Jail Break

When: Sun., May 1, 6 p.m. 2011
Price: $7/students, $10/advance, $12/door
Partying in a jail is definitely on my bucket list, as long as it’s without the humiliating arrest, cavity search, and shower-room beat down. Luckily for me, Social Wine Bar, Entropy Ensemble, and the American College of the Building Arts are throwing a party in Charleston’s haunted Old City Jail called Jail Break. The ACBA will convert the interior of the jail into a gallery showcasing talented artists and student works. Also inside the jail, the internationally recognized Annex Dance Company will be performing a modern dance installation piece. Outside on the main yard, there will be live music from Ryan Bonner and the Dearly Beloved, who sound like a mixture of Bright Eyes and Ryan Adams. The yard will also feature a performance by the ultra-funky band Wadata. The headliner will be Entropy Ensemble, who continue to impress crowds with their classical and instrumental performances of Radiohead tracks. Social will provide beer and wine for purchase.
