Jack Hanna

When: Fri., Feb. 17, 11 a.m. and Sat., Feb. 18, 1 p.m. 2012

Some of us know animal man Jack Hanna best from his long-running show Animal Adventures, while others think of the times we've seen Jungle Jack yuk it up on Leno or Letterman. And then there are those poor souls who think Hanna's the guy who exclaimed, "Crikey," all the time. (That's the late great Steve Irwin, folks.)

When we spoke with Hanna, he had just returned to his home base at the Columbus Zoo in Ohio after a trip to the Amazon River, something SEWE-goers will certainly hear plenty about this weekend. In addition to his tales of South American adventure, Hanna will also bring along some of his friends. "We'll have a cheetah, a penguin, maybe a sloth, a Siberian lynx," Jungle Jack said.

After his presentation, which is sure to be unpredictable (wild animals have a way of getting a little, well, wild on stage), Hanna will sign autographs and answer questions. With over 40 years of conservation and wildlife education under his belt, we asked Hanna what keeps him going. His answer was simple: "I love what I do."

"So, would you say you're a testament to the quote, 'If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life?'" we asked. "Exactly," Hanna replied.
