It's Law & Order: Tweets for Waring murder trial

Reporters chronicle gruesome case 140 characters at a time

Last week, social networking site Twitter took on a new role in the Lowcountry, providing play-by-play coverage (140 characters at a time) from a half-dozen or more media outlets watching the murder trial of Ethan Mack, accused of brutally killing Charleston resident Kate Waring last June.

Journalists forced to quietly sit throughout the proceedings each took to the Twitterverse to update every turn in the courtroom drama, including an exchange on Friday when Solicitor Scarlet Wilson complained about keeping jurors awake. The Post and Courier noted, "Judge says he could do that, but suggests prosecutors could help by keeping things more interesting or being louder."
