Re: “Charleston County Schools surprises teachers by reducing job security

Teaching is a dying art...pretty soon it'll be one semi-qualified adult turning 100's of computers on and off while students plug away at corporate learning platforms online.

Re: “Charleston moves toward restrictions on new late-night businesses downtown

Wow...so it's come to this has it? Let's just allow Charleston's rich to disrupt what has become a really cool scene. It won't seem like a big deal at first, but there will be fallout, and as usual it will hit the people who need Charleston to grow - not shrink, or shirk from its responsibilities of actually patrolling the streets and enforcing the laws.

This will affect musicians and bar/restaurant employees and affect the growth of additional investment, just wait and see.

Re: “Upstate Republican wants to punish CofC for urging students to read award-winning book

I always love how somehow Christianity gets dragged into these tired discussions. Look, it's simple really..."religion poisons everything" (Hitchens). Especially when it's the "religion" of some moronic anti-intellectual politician trying to score easy election points.

"Hey, I'm a real free-thinker...a champion of personal liberty and the enemy of BIG GOVERNMENT INTERFERENCE. So just let me deny you these books, and these movies, and this other stuff...and..." said every Right Wing Nut Case always.

Re: “Justin Bieber's arrest proves that rock 'n' roll is dead

Although I can completely agree with the tenor of your article, I think it may be instructive to look through the Annals Of The '80's. Those lousy douchbags were popstars too, and quite insane enough for headline-making lunacy. I think it's just a byproduct of too much makeup and money. We live in a sanitized world these days...might not seem like it...but there's little room on the TeeVee for the unadulterated, simply because what is unscripted can be dangerous to profitability. So maybe it's our culture that's dying and not Rock? Wow, I just depresssed myself.
