Re: “Helping Tea Party people dodge federally funded sites

"This money should never have left the state of SC. No where in the Constitution is this allowed. "

Article 1, Sec 8

"The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States"

Amendment 16

The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several states, and without regard to any census or enumeration.

Re: “Whitewashing History — Don't Let Neo-Confederates Make a Lie of the Past

Noam Chomsky is not calling for support of the Tea Party movement by any means. What he said, or what the reporter said he said is the "left is failing the country by not reaching out to those in the Tea Party movement."

Chomsky has always been a staunch critic of government power, and favored localized democracy. He is saying that the Tea Party people have a legitimate reason to be angry at the government, but the left is pushing them away rather than funneling their anger the way the Republican Party is (or, in his words "extreme right"). He is certainly not advocating support for the "extreme right" that he has spent his entire life fighting against.

Sorry I don't have the time or energy to argue about slavery and the civil war. If you are convinced that slavery was not the most important issue, evidence, logic, and reason aren't going to convince you now.

I just wanted to defend Noam from the slander.
