Half Life Whole Hearted

When: Jan. 28-Feb. 28 2010

Eye Level Art celebrates the temporary homecoming of native son Kevin Earl Taylor with two events this week. The proficient painter, now based in San Francisco, has been traipsing around town the last few weeks with his band, F.L.K. (aka Funny Looking Kids). When not rocking out, Taylor’s kept busy creating works in the 103 Gallery for his show, which opens Thursday.

Fans can get a tasty sneak peek at his fanciful new creations at the Fork + Brush dinner, the first in what’s expected to be a series of events blending art and cuisine at ELA. Iverson Brownell of Iverson Catering is creating a multi-course meal inspired by Kevin’s work. The evening will begin with a cocktail hour at 7:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 8:30, and guests can expect to hang out with both Taylor and Brownell. Taylor will also give a musical performance as a part of La Calle, featuring Clint Fore, Chuck McCormick, and George Baris. Tickets are $129.

The following day, Taylor’s show Half Life Whole Hearted opens to the public at 7 p.m. It will remain on view through February. —Erica Jackson
