Re: “Peninsula parking pressure points proliferate

Charleston's bump in residents on the Peninsula is the least of the issues. A local realtor quoted a statistic to me the other day that 1,500 people per month are moving to the tri-county area. Believe it or not, a large portion of those people lining East Bay Street restaurants and pubs on the weekends are from Mt. Pleasant and the north area. Their continued patronage is necessary for the bottom lines of these businesses. Charleston needs to get smarter on public transportation, much like Washington, DC and other heavily-populated areas. An above-ground tram with a robust schedule to ferry people from the tri-county area in and out would have a measurable impact in reducing these stresses.

Re: “A photographic tour of Charleston's swankiest offices

Very cool. Makes me wish I'd gone into tech, afterall!

Re: “The S.C. Legislature now runs CofC

I'm not entirely sure, but I don't think that the legislature or College can just unilaterally create doctoral programs that matter. They have to be accredited, and that determimation is made by the independent academic accreditation organization with which the College is affiliated. The "Fun Home" controversy - whichever side you fall on - raises legitimate questions about academic freedom there. That issue could come back to bite McConnell in the end. Amd if the programs aren't accredited, you might as well not bother.
