Re: “Brockisms: Sean Brock's star turn in No Reservations

Sean is not only a Great Chef, but super nice guy and will bend over backwards to make your experience fantastic. You can taste Sean's heart in every dish. Keep it up Sean. You cannot please everyone, but you sure please my posse at Smith Mountain Lake

Re: “CHSWFF: Sinful Soul

One of Charleston Wine and Food Festivals best events. Hope they plan this again next year. Charleston's Soul Food restaurants and dives are one of its best kept secrets. with Jeff Allen riding side saddle and sharing his food and history knowledge, it was like stepping back in time before all the New Charleston Restaurants became the shining stars. From Dave's fried shrimp and hush puppies, Ernie's delicious butter beans and okra stew plus sweet cornbread and a glass of southern ice tea, to the delightful daughters at Berthas, who are carrying on their mothers rich traditions in the kitchen including the best pork chops in the south, then the endearing Martha Lou, who has made such a contribution to the food of the south, all her wonderful life including her famous fried chicken and then to Alluette, who is trying to keep the Southern Flavors without all the ill health effects from too much sugar and too much pork plus her love of music. This was a fantastic experience, even for a Girl from the South, who can appreciate all the food history. Jeff Allen was fantastic and is a great source of knowledge.
