Very nice article. I have to point out though that all of your examples were students that were at or near the top of their class. As a member of generation Next, what does that say for someone like myself who is not the cum laude? I don't have the lowest grades by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm certainly not at the top. Last summer when I went to get a job for the two months I was out of school, I looked around and saw all of these help wanted adds about. I got all excited thinking I could more or less pick and choose. So I proceeded to spend two weeks of that time applying at any of the jobs that I would like to have most. As did several hundred other people... I then spent the next week applying at any job I could find. Apparently there was someone either more qualified or that could be paid less applying as well to each of those. I finally landed a job through the 'good ol boy' system for the rest of the summer. Without that though, I would still probably be looking.
