Freeloaders: Props to Piccolo

The week's best freebies, June 4-10

TUESDAY. Come on out to Atlanticville Restaurant on Sullivan's Island for an acoustic roots and rock performance by AlgarRhythms, Jim and Whitt Algar, for the restaurant's Thai Tuesdays. Enjoy as the duo skips from Elvis to Eric Clapton to Johnny Cash and back again.

WEDNESDAY. Park Circle Films will present Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos as part of their FUNimation at the Movies series. After a fugitive alchemist with mysterious powers leads the Elric brothers to a distant land, Ed and Al find themselves in the middle of a rising rebellion.

THURSDAY. Rivers and Tides: Andy Goldsworthy Working with Time will be presented at MUSC by the Sierra Club to create discussion about the unpredictability and energy of nature. A world-renowned artist, Andy Goldsworthy is known for his work in ice, stone, leaves, and wood.

FRIDAY. If you're into cinematographic adventures, check out the showing of Down to Monterey, the partly autobiographical story by Lee Domann. Domann will perform the 1960s-themed theatrical song-cycle as he explores his own experiences of hitchhiking with a friend to Haight-Ashbury after dropping out of the University of Kansas.

SATURDAY. For an up-close-and-personal encounter with nature, join the Congaree National park in their annual North American Butterfly Association butterfly count. Visitors will experience a full day of field observations as they count the insects along the trail system of the park. And Piccolo finishes up with its finale at Hampton Park.

SUNDAY. Spice things up with the Gino Castillo Cuban Jazz Quartet as they perform at Barsa Tapas Lounge & Bar and present "Havana Night," a set of Cuban and Latin jazz.
