No, it doesn't feel like October outside. We are in Charleston, after all. But don't let this moist air put a damper on your week — there's plenty to do around town. Read on for all the free fun.

Monday

Don't eat 'em, just race 'em — the Goldfish Race at Rec Room starts at 8 p.m. and is free to enter.

Cure the Monday blues at the Folly Beach Farmers Market starting at 4 p.m.

Tuesday

Comedy Open Mic at Cutty's is always free and open to anyone willing to lay it all on the stage. Hosted by Deshawn Mason, the show starts at 7:30 p.m.

Watch a special screening of An Outrage: A Documentary Film about Lynching in the American South at the Avery Research Center starting at 6 p.m. There will be special guests, including members of one of the South Carolina families featured in the film.  Space is limited to 99 people.

Head to Redux Contemporary Art Center at 4:30 p.m. for a Lowcountry Allies for Good Gathering to discuss what's happening in the nonprofit community.

Get fit before you get frothy — Frothy Beard Fit Club running group meets up at the brewery at 7 p.m.

Wednesday

Hop on your bike and join the East Cooper Greenway Alliance, Charleston Moves, and East Cooper Land Trust for all or part of this cycling event. For a pre-work morning ride, convene at the West Ashley Library at 8 a.m., and depart at 8:30 am. A police-escorted ride will take riders across the Legare Bridge and end at Cannon Park downtown. For evening rides, there will be one catering to those who live west of the Ashley — meet at White Point Garden and end with at Mellow Mushroom for happy hour. For those who live downtown or east of the Cooper, meet at Charleston Watefront Park and end at Reel bar at Charleston Harbor Marina for social hour.

Join Urban Yoga's Krista Block on the top of the Restoration for a free all levels rooftop yoga class starting at 6:30 p.m.

Meet designer and founder of Carson Co. Susan Carson at this Fieldshop event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; complimentary fittings will be available.

Dallas Baker takes the Palmetto Loading Dock stage starting at 5 p.m.

Thursday

Keep calm and rave on at the Alley at their Light up the Lanes event from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The Alley becomes a dance party with lights, lasers, and dance jams. There are food and drink specials, too, including $4 burgers and $4 local beers.

Channel your inner Yass Queen at this Voodoo bingo night that promises "fun + girly drinks + dirty jokes + drag queens + bingo + naughty prizes. Yasss!!!" Starts at 9:30, but arrive early for a good spot.

Friday

It's a book lovers dream: That BIG Book Sale at Omar Shrine takes place the 13-15  Peruse thousands of books, DVDs, CDs, books on CDs, and more. The sale runs Fri. 9 a.m. - 7p.m., Sat. 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Sun. 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Kick your weekend off with a free tasting of William Wolf Pecan Whiskey at Dante's Spirits in Mt. Pleasant starting at 3:30 p.m.

Artist, activist, and former freedom rider Janet Braun-Reinitz visits Fabulon to present her traveling show, Ladies Who Go There.

Saturday

Head to the Coop at Fat Hen at 5:30 p.m.  and listen to Cane Creek String Band strum some Appalachian dance tunes.

Showcase your Cosplay skills at YelpCon at the Hyatt House from 7 to 10 p.m. Awards will be given for the best costume, best couple's costume, best group costume, and most creative — must RSVP to join.

Help Enough Pie with their community indigo rag quilt at John Dart Library starting at noon.

Janet Braun-Reinitz will speak at Fabulon from 6 to 7 p.m. about her experiences as a former freedom rider.

Sunday

Head to Beresford Studios for an artist talk with Vik Hart at 6 p.m.; Hart explores the inspiration and process for his works in current Beresford exhibit, Stories from Firn.

Famulari's Pizzeria Oktoberfest starts at noon and features the release of their new Oktoberfest brew, partner relay races, a dunk tank, a Chicago pizza eating contest, and a beard and mustache contest.
