Freeloaders: Freedom festivals, live music, and Father's Day 

The week's best free events June 14-21

We, and our wallets, are in Spoleto recovery mode. Here are some free events to keep you busy this week.

TUESDAY. Local singer/guitarist Mac Leaphart will be playing his indie country and rock tunes at Fiery Ron’s Home Team BBQ in West Ashley.

WEDNESDAY. Starlight Cinema Series presents Meet the Robinsons on the big screen under the stars at Freshfields Village. Bring a blanket and popcorn and enjoy the movie starting at 9 p.m.

THURSDAY. Check out Tim Hussey's first exhibition solely dedicated to charcoal drawings with All Day Rain. An opening reception will be held at Rebekah Jacob Gallery from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

FRIDAY. Get prepared for hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, and floods with the Disaster Preparedness Expo. Learn what to do when natural disasters strike and how to recover from the aftermath. The expo is from 5-7 p.m. in the Public Safety Building on Isle of Palms. Head to House of Sage for a trunk show from 5-8 p.m. to check out local designers' creations and enjoy complimentary cocktails and apps. Stop by the North Charleston and American LaFrance Fire Museum, where admission is free all day in honor of the Charleston Nine. And the Friends of the Library Book Sale opens to the public today and lasts through Sunday.

SATURDAY. Enjoy a summer celebration at the Pour House with The Southern Solstice Revival featuring live music from local bands. Find free family fun at the Juneteenth Freedom Festival, celebrating the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation with music, food, raffles, face painting, storytellers, and plenty of other family entertainment. The festival is held at Hampton Park and begins at 1 p.m.

SUNDAY. Celebrate Father’s Day at the S.C. Aquarium, where fathers get in for free with a paying guest or child. This special offer for dads will run from 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
