Re: “New Book Explains the Need for Socialism in a Brutal World

Does anyone realize that paying income tax is required by law but the amount is up to the individual as long as the minimum is paid. Meaning if you or any other "pro big government fan" would like to "help out the down-trodden" you can! You are free to pay over and above the mandatory income tax you pay. So feel free to "help out" by paying more of your taxes then required. It is your right. Check it out. Anytime you feel you want to help, the good news is you can! Pay double if you want! No one is stopping you. Its the law. BTW any of these greedy celebrities that support big government could virtually remedy or "equalize" the people any time. If each of them were to actually put their money where there mouth is, instead of railing at us the average american to pony it up, there would be less of a problem by far! Ever stop to wonder why those big telethons go on with stars answering phones, like Katrina for instance? They are put on to raise money for people/areas that need it at the time, but the only people truly capable of writing a check large enough to make a difference are the stars that are there "donating their time" so that some poor schmuck living in a trailer can hand over their money. Give me a break! I have worked with these stars for many years and they are for the most part selfish and self-centered. Why else are they stars? Attention. A selfish motivation. I have always wondered why the stars themselves don't just skip the "everyone should feel guilty and pony up the money" telethon & simply have each of them write a check for a million each. It would be a write off for them plus their managers could run to all the papers & tell them what "wonderful person" this star is! Money raised, problem solved. And by people that can afford it! But for some reason we worship these people and never ask the obvious questions. The only star during Katrina that actually answered phones & wrote a check is Sandra Bullock to my knowledge and it was in the amount of one million dollars. If all of these stars would follow examples like that with their inflated income instead of just talking about it & then driving off in their private limo to one of their multi-million dollar homes, there would be no issue.
Just My thoughts on a subject that has always bothered me. We read about these stars buying $10,000 handbags, etc. & think its neat. Perhaps it would be really "neat" if we worshiped them for the right reasons of giving to others instead of the "joy" of seeing them "give" to themselves and gracing us with the pleasure of being allowed to watch. Ridiculous!
