Re: “FILM REVIEW ‌ September Dawn

Subject: September Dawn was easy on the mormons Date: Aug 25 05:40 Author: Cheryl in several ways, probably because if they'd been more graphic and accurate, movie goers would be too repelled to sit through the bararity. Some of the worst realities of the event were left out simply because they wouldn't have moved the plot along. Let'e see, here's my partial list of how the film gives mormons a break: 1. It didn't show the mormon patriachs who held guns on their own young men to force them into killing immigrants. 2. It didn't get into the possibilies of sexual assaults on teen girls during the massacre. 3. It didn't show the surviving babies' and childrens' faces or include their screams when they saw their parents and siblings tortured and murdered. 4. There were no detailed pictures of the saints hauling away booty, stripping bloody clothes off the dead bodies, or leaving them to the ravages of wolves and vultures. 5. The movie didn't follow these kids to show how they survived among strangers in homes run by the men they'd seen commit murders or how they were forced to pray to the mormon god and read mormon scripture. 6. It didn't include scenes of these children seeing the mormons wearing their parents' clothing, or mormon kids playing with their confiscated Arkansas toys, or mormons carrying their parents guns and riding the horses these children knew and probably loved. 7. Nothing in the movie indicated how the mormons billed the living Arkansas relatives for costs of food and education incured during the time these children were held captive in Utah. 8. The movie did not show how Brigham Young protected John D. Lee and others for twenty years until he finally gave Lee up as the one fall guy. 9. It didn't show how Brigham went to the site and ordered destruction of the stone memorial build by the US troops. 10. The movie didn't show how John D,'s family made sure that every one of the Baptists or other Christians in the party were dead-dunked and proclaimed mormon for eternity. Mormons should count their many blessings, name them one by one, count their many blessings, see what was not done.
