Fowler's Mustache plan benefits for injured singer/guitarist

Events will raise money for Nick Collins' medical expenses

The members of Fowler’s Mustache, the local group whose singer/guitarist Nick Collins was severely injured in a car accident earlier this month, have put together a couple of benefits to support their bandmate. Collins was ejected from the back of one vehicle after it crashed on I-526 and was then struck by an 18-wheeler, which did not stop. Collins has since lost his left leg below the knee. The events will raise money to help cover Collins’ medical expenses.

On Aug. 16 at 6 p.m., Midtown Bar and Grill will host a fundraiser, with all tips and a percentage of sales being donated to NAC Wins, the organization created for Collins. Ryan Bonner and Mac Leaphart will perform, and there will be items up for auction and raffle and barbecue will be served. They’re also requesting a $10 donation at the door, which can be made by credit card in addition to cash.

And on Aug. 19 from 1-7 p.m., the Windjammer will have live music from DJ C.Nile with DJ Rehab, Hundred Hands Down, the Savage Tongues, the Hibachi Heroes, and Jamisun, as well as Fowler’s Mustache. There will also be a raffle and a silent auction, and they’re also requesting a $10 donation at the door.

“Sunday will feature a ton of great local music, great prizes, all for a great cause,” says Fowler’s Mustache drummer John Tankersley. “And remember, if you don’t support NAC Wins, you lose.”

Stay tuned to NAC Wins' website for more updates on events, or to make a donation.
