Independence Day festivities are usually marked by picnics, cookouts, and all things red, white, and blue. However, this year tap into the wilderness and join Charleston Outdoor Adventures on their Fourth of July Fireworks Kayak Eco Tour. Hop in either a single or tandem kayak and explore the sea with knowledgeable tour guides leading the way. Not only will you get to see the fireworks from Folly, Kiawah, downtown, and elsewhere, you’ll also receive glow sticks as a source of light to guide you through the evening’s water tour. Office manager and tour guide, Anna Sullivan, let us know how popular and fun this Independence Day activity was last year. Since last year’s tour was such a hit, the adventure company has added two more tours. One will be on July 11 with fireworks just in case you missed them on the Fourth. The other is a full moon tour on July 12. “The tours are cool for locals as well as tourists because they learn about how important these ecosystems really are to Charleston,” says Sullivan. The best way to land a spot on this special Fourth of July event is to make a reservation through the Charleston Outdoor Adventures office.
