Follywood Anniversary Party

When: Sat., Feb. 4 2012
Price: Free
Back in 2006, local promoter Ben Bounds was running Dirt Road Records in Oxford, Miss. He visited Charleston with guitarist Reid Stone, formerly of Daybreakdown and currently of Guilt Ridden Troubadour. They both liked the Lowcountry so much they wanted to relocate here. Bounds had done stint as a reporter and as the planning and zoning commissioner of Starkville, Miss., before Stone coaxed him here. “My term ended, and I woke up and I was 30 and single in Mississippi,” Bounds recalls. “Reid said he had a spare room and a bartending shift at Home Team BBQ for me.” Bounds made the move and gradually started booking gigs for Stone and a few friends. Before long, bands from out of state were contacting him to play in Charleston. Follywood Productions incorporated in Jan. 2010. It currently handles 15 exclusive clients (half of them in Charleston) and works regularly with 20-25 bands from Louisiana to North Carolina. The company helped produced the big Mac’n at the Drome benefit concert for Mac Leaphart last weekend. Bounds and his team are ready to celebrate its two-year anniversary with a blowout Oyster Roast and rock-out fest on Saturday afternoon at the Pour House. Doors will open at 4 p.m. with Concrete Jumpsuit and Shonuff serenading oyster shuckers on the deck. Bret Mosley, Guilt Ridden Troubadour, and Weigh Station keep the party rolling at night on the main stage at 9 p.m. “There’s no agenda and no theme,” Bounds says. “It’s just to have a good time, showcase our bands, and host our friends and fans.”
