Re: “Folly Beach Residents Report Police Harassment

Several years ago, when Folly had police officers that understood the finer points of living the small island life, I was followed by an officer on my bike going down W. Ashley at 2:15 AM. Yes, I had come from a bar and yes I was intoxicated. This officer followed behind me about a half block with his high beams on so that I could see. Yes, I was probably wobbling. He followed me until I turned into my driveway and then dimmed his headlights and went about his business. I called city hall the next morning and asked them to tell the officer that I appreciated him. Folly does not have sidewalks nor does it have cab service. Now I ask you, should I drive home from the bar? Should I ride my bike going 5 mph or should I walk home at about 3mph? IT'S A NO BRAINER!!!!!! Chief Boatwright, we don't need nor want police "protection" like Shawn James has to dish out. You need to hire more officers Sgt. Pedro McTeer who understand that we on Folly just want to live and let live. How many shootings have we had on Folly lately? How many stabbings? NONE..... I personally feel that if Shawn James wants to make a difference he should ask to be assigned to N. Charleston where the "real" pistol packing crack head druggies are roaming the streets killing each other and innocent bystanders. He probably wouldn't be interested in that because he wouldn't be able to intimidate those people with his big bad wolf BS (I am in control!!!). But you know what? I've heard that most people with "little man syndrome", ak controlling power mongers, do it to make up for a very small penis. Boatwright, get him out of here before we sue his ass off!!
