Flogging Molly w/ Frank Turner, The Architects

When: Thu., Feb. 18 2010
Price: $25
As any Guinness-swigging/Jameson-sipping fan can tell you, the Celtic-tinged, punk-spirited rock ’n’ roll of Los Angeles band Flogging Molly draws deeply from several vintage rock and folk styles. Their mixed bag compares to those of The Pogues, The Clash, U2, and The Levellers. Dubliner Dave King (formerly of hard rock band Fastway, alongside Fast Eddie Clark of Motörhead) formed the band in 1997 with fiddler Bridget Regan, guitarist Dennis Casey, accordion player Matt Hensley, bassist Nathen Maxwell, drummer George Schwindt, and mandolinist Bob Schmidt. The band brings its Green 17 Tour to two big local concerts in coastal Carolina in support of a new concert documentary titled Live at the Greek Theatre, and a recent studio album titled Float. In addition to the Thursday night show at the Music Farm, Flogging Molly performs at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach (4640 Hwy. 17 S., 843-272–3000) on Sat. Feb. 20. Tickets are selling fast for both shows. —T. Ballard Lesemann
