Flag Day Burger and Beer Festival

When: Sat., June 14, 12-6 p.m. 2014
Price: $10 donation
It’s an age-old partnership; burgers and beer just go together. Although no one needs a reason to indulge in the two, the Flag Day Festival has found one. Held at Holy City Brewing, the festival brings together different vendors to honor the holiday. HoM, Charleston Beer Works, Boone’s Bar, Southside 17 Bar and Grill, Blind Tiger, Pawley’s Front Porch, Big Billy’s Burger Joint, Sesame, and Swig & Swine will be providing the eats, while RJ Rockers, Holy City Brewing, Frothy Beard, Palmetto Brewing Company, Thomas Creek Brewery, New South Brewing, and Coastal Crust will serve the suds. “We’ve picked up a national sponsor this year with Burger Maker out of New Jersey. They will be supplying some of the burger meat to any restaurants that chooses to use their meat,” says event organizer Shay MacDonald. Now in its third year, Flag Day Festival benefits Pet Helpers and Charleston Animal Society, with all proceeds going to the organizations. Brews and food cost extra. “This is a pet- and family- friendly event with live music and a DJ, a jump castle, raffle giveaway, and non-alcoholic beverages supplied by the Cannonborough Beverage Company, along with some sides,” adds MacDonald. “I’m sure there’ll be some vegetarian options not covered in bacon and beef.”
