Fire Roasted Oyster Festival

Tastes like history

The Bulls Bay Chamber of Commerce hosts the first annual Bulls Bay Oyster Festival featuring locally caught oysters slow-roasted over a wood fire. Daniel Bates, a member of the Bulls Bay chamber of commerce says, “Ours is a more traditional oyster roast that you’ll find natives having in their back yard where the oysters are cooked in their own juices of a wood fire allowing the smoke to imbue it’s own flavor. Bulls Bay is a body of water in the Cape Romain Wildlife Refuge that is designated as a Class 1 wilderness, the highest rating of purity, because of the lack of human interaction and the water shed entering there comes filtered straight through the Francis Marion National Forests.” The festival was created with the intention of promoting local business growth and the preservation of McClellanville’s natural and cultural heritage. There will be live performances by local folk/bluegrass band Red Cedar Review and Carolina soul band Stolen Hearts. This event is BYOB and for all ages, dogs are welcome if kept on a leash.
