Film Commission hosts location workshop

Bill Bowling will present on location scouting and managing

The South Carolina Film Commission will host a workshop on Nov. 13 from 9:30 a.m.- 5 p.m. at Trident Tech’s College Center.

Bill Bowling, who has served as a supervising location manager on more than 30 feature films, from Showgirls to Beverly Hills Cop to Talladega Nights, will lead the workshop. He’ll discuss topics like effective scouting, location resources, and risk assessment.

“We really use these workshops as significant training opportunities for the South Carolina production community and try to cover as many topics as possible,” says Brad Jayne, the workshop’s coordinator. “Considering how rich South Carolina is in production locations, we really felt like an in-depth understanding of how to find and use locations, especially practical ones, is something we could all benefit from, whether you’re working for a big-budget feature or commercial shoot or making your own independent film.”

The workshop is free, but registration is required. Visit the commission's website or e-mail brad@creativeforgeproductions.com for more.
