Re: “The photos you weren't supposed to see, until now

Great shots, love the light on Catherine Moye (oyster harvesting). The shot of Ray Fischer is excellent as well. Enjoyable article and I understand the pressure to be spontaneously creative. -Ferrell McCollough

Re: “The Heart of Sol Legare

There is very little specific history regarding Sol Legare Island. Bull (1970:14) notes that the island is named for Solomon Legare, "a prominent former owner." Neuffer (1972:13) also notes that Folly Creek, at some point in time, was known as Sol Legare Creek. Solomon Legar~ was a French Huguenot who apparently migrated to Charleston in 1696
from Boston, where he was the son ~f Francois and Anne Lan~ois Legar~
(McIver 1957:39). Holman (1948:66) notes that Francois Legare was a goldsmith and jeweller and that Solomon was a silversmith (see also Molloy 1947:223). The Legare family history is too complex to be covered here, but is detailed by Fludd (1886).

From Chicora.org google search Sol Legare Road
