Fall is in the air and with it the smell of gyro meat and tzatziki. That’s right, it’s time for the Fall Greek Festival. Nosh on gyros, kebabs, baklava, even hot dogs while sipping beers in the garden and checking out football scores on the big screen TVs — in between sets of music from A Night in Athens, Nick Trivelas, George Antonopoulos, and Joanna. Not in the mood for beer? The festival will have Greek wine from over 30 different distributors, and wine tastings will be held all weekend. Dancers with stage names like Hellas, Icarus, Kyklonakia, and Pegasus will perform traditional Greek folk numbers. Event coordinator Athan Fokas says, “After each dance they pull people from the crowd and try to teach them to dance.” There will also be church tours highlighting the Greek ecclesiastical tradition, as well as a Sunday service. Parking is free, and a shuttle service stationed at the MUSC employee parking lot (150 Lockwood Blvd.) is provided to and from the event.
