You’re wandering down Race Street heading towards Hampton Park when you hear a hum of accents and strange instruments, the smell of gyros fills your nostrils — huh, what the bouzouki? That’s right, the Greek Festival is coming back to fall. The Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity used to have a fall wine festival, but they moved it to the spring Greek Fest we know and love. Tommy Meletis, the chairman for the spring festival, says, “We’ve been talking about bringing it back for a couple years. The festival is busting out of the seams in the spring, and this would give people who couldn’t make it to that one a chance to come.” The festivals are more or less the same, except the fall festival will have a greater focus on drinks. The wine list will be expanded, and they’ll have a sports bar set up with TVs. There’ll also be two wine tasting locations as opposed to just one. However, the food will be limited to pastries and stuff they can throw on the grill, like gyros souvlaki, hot dogs, fries, baklava, and more. The vendors will still be there, as will the music and attractions. Meletis says, “We’re just testing the water. Next year we may have more food. We’ll see how it goes.”
