Evening with Jonathan Green

When: Wed., May 21 2014
Phone: (843) 556-6020
Price: $35
Rice was instrumental to the success of the Lowcountry during its early years, and Middleton Place wants to recognize the grain’s greatness. The former plantation planted rice last weekend and educated visitors on the history and process of growing rice, and now they want to celebrate the yumminess of it. Organizing a special edition of their weekly Wine Strolls, Middleton Place will be serving Carolina Gold rice hors d’oeuvres prepared by Middleton Place Restaurant’s Executive Chef Brandon Buck and Holy City Brewing’s Dorchester Lager, a rice lager brewed with Carolina Gold rice. Artist and chairman of the Lowcounty Rice Culture Project Jonathan Green will also be in attendance. Green, well-known for his paintings of the Gullah community, also helped to create the packing of the limited edition Le Creuset “Gullah Blue” mini-cocottes that will be available for purchase during the evening. The gift shop will also be selling Gold Rice Colonial Candles of which a portion of the proceeds go directly to the Lowcountry Rice Culture Project.
