Re: “The piggish politics of fake libertarians

Dude, about 90% of all Tea Partyers support legalizing marijuana. And most don't care about abortion, except to oppose taxpayer funding.

You need to check your facts. The Tea Party is nearly 100% libertarian. Yes, it's got a slightly more "conservative" tinge to it than other libertarian groups. But it's well within the libertarian sphere.

FACT: The Tea Party was founded by Eric Odom, at the time of the founding, an executive comm. member of the Libertarian Party of Illinois. The Tea Party WAS FOUNDED BY LIBERTARIANS, and remains VERY LIBERTARIAN today.

You looking for "fake libertarians"? Try looking in the mirror.

Re: “The days of a smaller federal government are coming

There are so many things wrong with Mr. Hunter's piece not sure where to start. He gets just about everything bass ackwards.

1. Is he saying that anyone, like Reagan or Goldwater, who wants a beefy military, strong defense, and a continued fight against worldwide Islamism, is a "NeoCon"? Really?

2. Bush welcomed free market ideals under his administration. Fact: He proposed the most radical privatization of Social Security ever, it came straight from the libertarian Cato Institute. Bush cut taxes severely. Bush slashed government regulations. Only problem was so-called "libertarians" like Hunter, never came to Bush's defense, when he was being savaged by the liberal media for all these libertarian efforts.

3. Hunter should know that his idol Ron Paul supported Bush for President. Endorsed him publicly twice. Paul even campaigned as sort of a traditional Texas "Bush Republican" in 1996.

4. He says Goldwater was a hero to paleo-conservative Judge Napolitano. Not sure why? Goldwater was a strident anti-Communist, favoring a super strong military, unlike the weak appeasement policies of Napolitano and Ron Paul.

I could go on. But Mr. Hunter, seems like he's living on another planet.
