Electric Friends

When: Fri., Jan. 22 2010
Price: $3
Outer Space hosts a dance party on Friday with Charleston’s new musical group, Electric Friends providing the event’s music and entertainment. This is not the first time Electric Friends has headlined a night’s go-to party, and it won’t be the last. Joining forces last November, DJ Machete, CMNDer, and Jeff ET came together to create Electric Friends with their first performance at Shine. What makes this dynamic DJ group stand out from the rest is their collaboration of musical styles ranging across the board. “We all come from different backgrounds, so you get an interesting mix”, explains Matthew Bowers (a.k.a. CMNDer). Jeff ET brings “disco and all forms of house music” (and is one of the few local DJ’s to stick with vinyl), CMNDer provides more “techouse,” and Machete incorporates it all. They may all have different styles, but all three members share a common passion for the music they play. “DJing isn’t really a job for us,” says Bowers. “We bring a lot of energy when we’re all DJing, and we feel like people notice that.” *(relocated from Outer Space to the Upper Deck). —Olivia Gossett
