I grew up on Sol-Legare, and I can assure you, Jaxx, it is pronounced "Sawl." As the original settlers would have spoken Gullah, (which my grandparents whose home I grew up in spoke a variation of), so the pronunciation might seem different if you are not familiar with the dialect. Gullah is the mixture of West African tongues with colonial English developed by slaves who spoke different languages, and needed to find common ground in order to communicate with their slave masters and each other.
