Re: “A cat cafe — are you kidding me?

I'm all for it, and look forward to relaxing fun play sessions. Cats are great therapy and mind refresh in the midst of a busy day.

Any business venture entails risk, and Charleston has a checkered past in regarding support of uber niche businesses ( See Motobar). Hopefully the playful angle will draw in a sustaining mass of folks. No doubt a large portion of college kids missing @ home pets, which will be nice for them.

Be Catty!

Re: “Yes, Charleston might get a cat cafe

Asheville is getting one soon in their downtown. I tend to think AVLs funky vibe is a better fit for this than Charleston. But I would definitely check it out!

Re: “Will the late-night party pendulum swing back to East Bay Street where it began?

All good spots mentioned above, the corridor is tourist dominated to the nth degree. So not caring about all the attendant congestion annoyance is a pre req to having a fun night down there.

OTOH, the Upper Upper King area and Morrison joints are away from the frenzy, relaxed and free parking abundant. Given these pluses I don't see E. Bay stealing it's thunder anytime soon.

Re: “Protesters threaten to shut down Ravenel Bridge toward Mt. Pleasant at 4 p.m.

I'm a staunch progressive and participated in anti war, pro gay rights protests etc.

But they were all sidewalk or preapproved marches with local authorities.

Blocking people from getting home or to 2nd shift jobs will not endear people to the cause, it will alienate and anger potential allies instead.

Re: “Vegan restaurant Motobar closes after four month run

Good on them for trying their best, it's a tough biz.

Might have been a hit in a Vegan Mecca like Asheville but support for joints like this are nowhere near that level in Charleston,
