Rules are rules and should apply equally to everyone. The Irvans went out of their way to abide by the covenants in building their home and have the right to expect that everyone else in the community will also abide by the rules. How funny that Ms. Ambrose would comment on "Southerners and their tomatoes" as Kim Irvan is a born and bred Southerner herself. Isn't this more about Charleston/South Carolina being a closed society? Tourists and their money are welcomed, but don't even think about living there if you can't point to local graves of your ancestors. What a backward and ignorant society these people portray.
