Re: “White Christianity is part of the problem

This is the most ridiculous article I've ever read. First, define "white Christianity/white church". Is it every church that doesn't have an "AME" label? Is about congregation demographics? Is it Methodist, Baptist, Catholic, Lutheran, Mormon, or Jehovah's Witness? Your term "white Christianity" is very broad, vague and thoughtless.

As far as the Church you attended while growing up, I'm sorry you experienced a congregation that spoke with a sense of colonial exceptionalism. That is not what the Bible preaches nor is it right to practice. However, just as much as the "white church" you attended was preaching bad faith, what makes the stories of the other church you visited right? Did you visit any other churches (since that's what they're called) besides the 2 mentioned in the article? Did their message have the same sense of colonial exceptionalism?

Although, the most damning thing about your article is the conversation you had with the Princeton professor. We have someone teaching America's next generation that there are only 2 ways, "one was white, the other black". America will never get past their race issues if everything continues to be literally black and white.

Along with this, there are so many other issues with this lackadaisical attempt of an article, but I do not have the time to go through everything. Try harder next time bud, utilization of Google might help.

Re: “Challenging Mayor Tecklenburg to choose love

Does Jessie Parks write about anything else? Do you really tell people to go to the top level of a parking garage to see Charleston? When someone asks you what Charleston is, you tell them to look at a statue and a church steeple? I'm sure Charleston is limited to just a couple things, right? Charleston is more that just race relations, but you can't seem to see past that, since that is what you write about on a weekly basis.

Re: “Charleston County Council votes to kill support for West Ashley bridge bike lane

Mixing bike/ped paths with on/off ramps seems very dangerous unless you can keep everything to one side and it's divided (like the ravenel).

Re: “What Would Schindler Do?

Don't let your opinion of the church be based on a few bad experiences. The church I went to growing up had open gym a couple nights a week and we always had people from the local neighborhood (not a bad area but not the best either). We would have a few rougher looking people join and some that you could tell were lost in their faith. However, we never turned down anyone. Not every church is run like a business and those are the churches everyone should strive to find.

Re: “Charleston's printed accolades may be doing more harm than good

Charleston's printed accolades are not doing more harm than good. Yes, our infrastructure is suffering and it has been for a long time. Luckily the gas tax passed and road projects will start churning in the next few years. Like the writer states, the Rust Belt cities have lost key industries and now those cities are noticeably shrinking. Therefore, I would think it would be wise to not shew away tourists as tourism is a key industry of Charleston. Charleston is a wonderful place that is full of activities and entertainment. We should be happy that we live in a place that is on the rise, unlike the rust belt.

@NewslessCourier

That's because 526 is a solution for the terrible traffic through the Savannah/Folly/Maybank corridor. The land it is cutting through is already developed or already planned to be developed.
