Double Vision: Gwylene Gallimard and Jean-Marie Mauclet and jimihatt

When: Mon., Sept. 27, 5:30 p.m. 2010
Price: Free
The universe has given us many great pairings, like peanut butter and jelly and Sonny and Cher. This is essentially the concept behind Redux’s Double Vision lecture series. They pair two seemingly unrelated speakers for one evening of education. This week, the art center will present Gwylene Gallimard and Jean-Marie Mauclet (with “Art and Community) and jimihatt (with “The Birth of jimihatt”). Gallimard and Mauclet are the minds behind Broad Street’s community-oriented Fast and French restaurant, which they began as a social experiment in the ’80s; they’ll discuss their “Olympia” installation, developed in Columbia. jimihatt is the founder of the underground supper club Guerilla Cuisine, a collaborative dining project that combines dining, drinking, and philanthropy. Social Restaurant + Wine Bar will provide glasses of vino, which will hopefully grease your wheels and inspire you to participate in the Q&A session after the presentations. The series will continue with Harper Poe and Ron Wiltrout (on Oct. 4) and Mikayla Mackaness and Jenny Bloom (on Oct. 11). —Susan Cohen
