Don't float the mainstream

420 Party

This weekend was all about beer. Folks celebrated the brewski at Saturday's Ballpark Festival of Beer, then on Sunday Atlanta's SweetWater Brewing Company hosted a bar crawl at seven downtown bars. The SweetWater crew was in town to introduce their 420 Extra Pale Ale to taps at many of Charleston's bars and restaurants. Over 125 beer-thirsty Charlestonians RSVP'd for the event online, and the crowd hit the streets like army ants on the loose. Determined participants gobbled up $2 beers and stashed free swag along the way. The first stop was Wild Wing, which was slam-packed for football. Next up, The Brick was stoked to be inundated with beer-thirsty souls, who threw darts and rowdied up the tourists. After Moe's Downtown, and on the way to Social, the colony of beer ants just kept getting bigger and stronger. Another hour was spent at The Griffon, so by the time we grand-finaled it up at the Rooftop Bar on Vendue, the bar crawl crowd was bursting at the seams. It was the perfect farewell to summer and marked the halfway point to St. Patty's Day!
