Re: “Successful blacks should help those trapped in poor communities

"Despite the Civil Rights Act of 1965, equality for blacks is still a long way off. That's because some folks prefer to walk around with their heads in the clouds as if the work of creating "The Great Society" is completed." I actually agree with the paragraph you wrote above about equality being a long way off. When will I get the same scholarship opportunities that blacks get? When will I get the job that I'm qualified for, instead of a black person because of affirmative action? When will I get the business loan only offered to a woman because she is black. Hmmm.... equality - next time try not to be such a victim.

Re: “Awkward moment in front of AFFA theater ad begs for lesson on what "gay" means

That mother definitely missed out on an opportunity to talk with her child. What is she going to do when she asks about sex? My son is 7 years old and he approached me about what gay means? I explained that there are different families out there without going into the sexual act of it. Children are a lot smarter than what we give them credit for and if we as parents don't answer their questions someone else will.

Re: “Letters to the editor

I agree - N. Charleston has a lot of problems. Neighborhoods that use to be safe to live in (ie Park Circle) are ridden with crime. As someone who use to live in N. Charleston, I'm happy I moved!

Re: “Civil rights rhetoric is useless in today's crisis

The families knew of the rules when they moved into Gadsden Green. Why do criminals deserve more rights than everyday good citizens? They should be evicted, but that will not resolve the problem of bad parenting. Wherever they move, nothing will change and they will continue to commit more crimes.
