DeepRoots Family Records Showcase

When: Sat., Nov. 21, 7 p.m. 2015
Price: $5

Roots go deep

Musical acts from the Upstate travel to the Lowcountry at this musical showcase which features seven bands, ranging from punk rock/metal to blues-tinged rock ‘n’ roll. Jake Garrett, co-founder of the company DeepRoots Family Records & Productions, LLC, plays in several of the bands, giving the term “family band” a whole new meaning. DeepRoots, both a record label and a production company, was founded in Fountain Inn, South Carolina, with the intention of creating a “laid back atmosphere” for artists. This Saturday’s show will include performances by Amy Lynne Reed, a singer-songwriter with a soulful sound and haunting lyrics; The Long Canes, who CP’s Vincent Harris described earlier this year as boasting “a little gritty Southern rock muscle;” and Dables, a three-man band created by lead singer David Walker, a self-described “manic folk rocker.” The bands will also be performing at Palmetto Brewery on Saturday afternoon, so be sure to hit Huger St. at 3 p.m. if you want a double feature.
