Re: “Advocates say culture, courts partly to blame for S.C.'s high ranking in domestic homicides

I realize that I am late to the game here but are you serious? Women stay because they are terrified to leave. When women leave an abusive relationship they are then at the most danger of being killed. Do you not have a heart or a brain? Many drink and use drugs to numb the pain of what they are going through. That does not say that all the use drugs and drink are going through abusive relationships but it happens. Many of these women have reached out to their churches and family members but there is not much that they can do. My sister is currently going through this and she's got the courts and the police actively not helping her. They feel sorry for him. Everybody he knows has turned their backs on him because they have all seen the crazy side (stalking, accusing, threatening, holding the child hostage, lying, the drugs, the drinking). The judge feels sorry for him because he obviously didn't know he was supposed to have a lawyer and affidavits. Ummm....yeah, he knew, there just isn't anyone willing to stand up for him. What do you suggest in that case, Clarkie? OMG, ignorance must be freaking bliss.
