Have you outgrown your Dr. Frank N. Furter outfit, but you just can’t get through Halloween without some sort of rock opera? Check out Theatre Marvelosa’s Dead of the Night at Eye Level Art, taking place all weekend. The performance uses a series of tales written by the “Mad Poet of Leicester Square.” Twenty-nine cast members will combine drama, dance, comedy, martial arts, and poetry — plus some cool costumes, sound effects, video, and a live band thrown in — to “create a mad, frenzied opera.” Characters include the Werewolves of Sennen Cove, Prince Ke’eyama, and the Five Gentlemen of Imperial Leisure. “I created Dead of the Night as a surreal little rock poem honoring my favorite writers of gothic horror, whose personal lives have inspired me and helped light the path for my own creative ventures,” says Theatre Marvelosa’s Willi Jones, who wrote the play and designed the costumes. Spaced Invaders will provide the special effects, and Los Mortalitas will make a special appearance. —Susan Cohen
