Allie, I'd love to show you that not all people in Charleston are like that ;)

Re: “Strawless Summer challenges Charleston bars and restaurants to give up plastic straws

What blows my mind is how few bars/restaurants actually throw all those bottles and cans in a recycling can instead of the trash when it seems like just about the easiest damn thing to do.

Re: “Behind bars, cell phones allow S.C. prisoners easy access to continue criminal activity

We're using a 1934 law to govern technology invented in the last ~20 years. Smart.

Re: “We shopped at Mt. Pleasant's new ALDI grocery store so you don't have to

@Susan, I don't want to go too off-topic and I understand you were criticizing the author about her complaint of blocked cheese...

The anti-caking additives are cellulose, aka powdered wood pulp. And, it's very safe and used in tons of foods. It's fiber. In fact, its very likely that you eat healthier because of it. It makes you fuller and doesn't add calories. So while you may not like it, it's incorrect to say that it's healthier to eat block cheese.

If you're going to say research is important, perhaps you should do some of your own. ;)

Re: “The Gamecocks will lose on Saturday

Brilliantly said. Calling most of these guys "student athletes" has also become a joke. The NFL is the only major pro sport that doesn't have a pro minor league system.

Like baseball, Allow NFL teams to draft any player that has graduated high school. Allow players to be in the draft upon graduation of HS. The players may, however can go to college if they so choose. If this happens, the NFL team controls their rights in the future. Or they can be compensated in a future draft for that pick. Players who don't get drafted highly can go back to college! Let them hire agents without compromising their college eligibility.
