Re: “FILM REVIEW ‌ September Dawn

Overall a good review, however you made one particularly large mistatement. Historical evidence does not suggest that leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints ordered the execution. In fact, there is an existing letter written by Brigham Young himself, that instructed the people in southern Utah to let them pass in peace. Unfortunately, the letter did arrive too late. Some have suggested that Young purposely had the letter arrive late. That is stretching a bit too far to try and vilify a religion quite frankly. For those who are aware of Utah's topography, Salt Lake City is about a five to six hour drive from where the massacre happened. And that is in a car on an interstate highway. Now imagine traversing the same distance on horse, without roads, picture Utah's national parks and it's rugged terrain - it should come as no surprise that the letter took more than a day to arrive. While tremendously abhorent that some local church leaders did orchestrate this tragedy, it is very clear that higher level church leaders where wholy unresponsible for this act.
