Daughtry w/ Lifehouse, CAVO

When: Sun., June 6 2010
Price: $39.50, $29.50
Rock singer Chris Daughtry and his N.C.-based band headline the Coliseum this Sunday in support of a new album titled Leave the Town (19 Recordings/RCA). Daughtry enjoys the kind of immediate success that rarely happens in the music biz these days. After performing on the 2006 season of American Idol, he sold more than a million copies of his 2006 self-titled CD in the first five weeks of its release. Not only did his run on the show prime the pump for his first album fronting his band, Daughtry, it seemingly would have given him a taste of the life he was about to experience as one of the most popular artists in rock. “When you’re on that show, you have no clue what’s going on outside of that,” he says. “You’re kind of in a bubble. You’re not really out in the public eye. You start to get a sense of that fame once you do that tour, because now all of a sudden all the fans are coming out and you’re doing meet and greets and realizing, ‘Whoa, this is new.’” Leave the Town’s first single, “No Surprise,” did well on several charts, including Billboard’s adult contemporary chart, where it went top five. —Alan Sculley
