Re: “Abstinence-only preserved in Charleston schools

Parenting is the primary issue here. Today's homes require so much more to operate functionally when, in most cases, both parents are working as well as the more prevalent single parent homes. Why is it that the public school system must take the lead in sex education? The parents, when present, are the primary role models for sex education. Parents should always take the time to to observe the child being reared with great discernment; being ready to answer all sorts of questions. However, this is not always the case due to a number of reasons.Educational institutions do the best they can with the tools and people available. But the truth of the matter is, the parent is to be and always will be held accountable concerning the behavior of their child. Also, what does one do when a child does not adhere to heterosexual orientation in his or her sexual desires? Some children are homosexual, some heterosexual, some bisexual, some may even be seriously considering celibacy. And all these avenues may very well conflict with familial tradition and religious doctrines.Regardless, remaining silent is most deadly.

Re: “As If We Didn't Know: Study Shows Racial Resentment Fuels Teabagger Movement

De Facto racism has been in place in this country since its birth. Some people will always have a sore looser mentality. We all must be aware of this and warn others concerning it. It has been said that America's Christianity stretches as far as its dollar does and no further. We are all going through some hard times. How we respond and/or react makes all the difference in the world. I never will understand how anyone could complain against help being given to the very people whose free labor benefited the entirety of the United States and England for two to three centuries. God help us all to overcome our fears, hatreds, ignorance, and stupidity.
