Last month two-year-old Avira Boyd was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, Rhabdomyosarcoma, which has been diagnosed in less than five percent of children. Boyd is currently being treated with chemotherapy and radiation and she will eventually have surgery to remove the remainder of a tumor.

To help Boyd's family with the financial burden of this treatment, Boyd's mother Allie Williams, a local dance instructor, is putting on a fundraiser, Dancers Against Cancer, next Sat. Nov. 4. The event takes place at New Beginnings Worship Center in Moncks Corner starting at 5 p.m. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased online or at the door.

Sponsored by New Beginnings Worship Center, Dance FX, Chef Charlie Giordano, Brick Lane Catering, and Chef Anna Abram, the event features free hors d'oeuvres, drinks, live dancers, music, actors, and a silent auction. Additional donations can be made at the event in a donation box or online at
