Re: “WANDERING EYE ‌ So Much for Girl Power

Ms. Smith: Actually, it is worse than you think. This is because the legislature will not fund payment for the ultrasounds. As reported in Greenville Online: [State Senator Kevin L.] Bryant, R-Anderson, said it would be all right with him if a woman were made to view the ultrasound against her will because many who see the image choose not to have the abortion. "It's OK so long as she has more information," he said. "She still has the final choice." As far as paying for the tests, Bryant said he doesn't want taxpayers picking up the tab. So he may offer an amendment giving women the option of having the ultrasound at crisis pregnancy centers, which now provide them for free. There are 27 such centers in the state, he said, and nine have ultrasound machines. Not surprisingly, Lowcountry Crisis Pregnancy Center--which receives at least some of its funding from government grants—taxpayer money to you Mr. Bryant--offers ultrasounds for free. But, anyone who chooses to go to Lowcountry Crisis Pregnancy Center for the free ultrasound will have to hear about Post Abortion Stress Syndrome (PASS). Of course, this "mental disorder" is not recognized by either the American Psychological Association or the American Psychiatric Association. "PASS" is a made-up term that is intended to make choosing an abortion as devastating as possible for the woman. Dan Norfleet
